 ABOUT THE ARTIST

I am an artist and art educator living in Richmond, Virginia. My art has always been inspired by the colors, textures, and patterns I find in nature. I create paintings and prints that reflect those elements that have left an impression on me. My printmaking process involves a tool called a gelli plate, which is a surface similar to gelatin.  By layering colors and textures, I can achieve a variety of effects. This form of art is very fast and experimental.   I try not to think about what the finished product will look like and just let the print evolve. Many prints don't turn out well, but creating that one pleasing image is like finding a beautiful seashell in the sand!  This feeling is something I hope to pass on to my students as they discover how art can be a meaningful part of their own lives.
